Event Details

Come on out and bring the kids to an old fashion Autumn Folk festival. During the day we will have hay wagon rides, pumpkin carving, music, pumpkin butter and much more. This is a day and night event. We will celebrate different cultures and their unique ways of celebrating Fall. This year we are celebrating the Scot/Irish and German Culture. Grayson County Historical Society will be doing two lectures on the influence of these cultures in Grayson County. One at noon and one at 2:00PM.Come watch volunteers do the Witches Broom dance during the day at 2:30PM!!! If you didn’t have time to carve a pumpkin well this is your chance to add a Jack O’ Lantern to our Light the Porch Event. There will be demonstrators in and around the Museum. There will be Heritage Craft vendors in the vendor lot, so bring money and support these artisans.  Wagon rides and music! Just a fun filled day. There will be food and drink available throughout the day, brought to us by the JROTC of Carroll County Schools. We also will be having a P:umpkin Pie contest, so if you have a recipe that is a winner, bring it on by. Cash prizes will be awarded to the winners in the pavilion. This starts at 11:00AM and ends at 3:00PM
At Night…….

Starting at 5:00PM going through 8:00PM
We would love for your children to come in their Halloween costumes to join in the fun. Please come out and bring a carved pumpkin to the event!! We plan on lighting up the porches, the cabin and the blacksmith shop with over 100 pumpkins! We will light the pumpkins that night for people to see and vote on. Some prizes will be awarded, so please leave you information under your pumpkin( name, address, phone# and age). There will be games and candy, in the Pavilion . Movies will be in the old cabin. A second performance of the Witches Broom Dance will preformed at 7:00PM. A lecture about the History of Halloween traditions in America will be done by our director on the Blacksmith’s porch in the evening.  We will have German folk stories told by a fire and another storyteller will be telling tells at another fire.! Of course we will have candy and even popcorn free for the public!!! We will be awarding prizes for the Pumpkins at 7:45PM.  We do hope to see there.
