Apple Butter Day

October 4th –
Starting at 3 on Friday everyone meet at the pavilion with these things:
1 bushel of Apples
17 quart jars with rings and lids
5lb. of white sugar
.125 ounce bottle of oil of cinnamon
Paring knives and or apple peelers if they have them.
Plan to peel the apples that evening with everyone else.
October 5th –
Show up at 7 am to start the cooking process and stay until time to can. Pack their own drinks/food for the day. Hope to be finished and cleaned up by 5, (estimate).This will be traditional wood fired cooking of the Applebutter. Participants must be able to work. (Peeling, stirring, canning, cleaning up).Yield is not guaranteed only estimated yield. Come learn how apple butter was made back in the day and take some home with you.
