About
To make Camp Dickenson a place where individuals of all ages can experience Christ personally and grow spiritually.
In 1970, W. L. Dickenson, a dairy farmer and businessman from Cullen, Virginia, donated over 500 acres of land along the New River between Fries and Galax to the Wytheville District of the United Methodist Church. His desire was to provide a place for boys and girls to receive Christian education and training. Though there have been changes throughout the years the emphasis at Camp Dickenson is still on summer camping for children and youth.
The camp is open all year to groups for retreats, picnics, reunions, meetings and other outings. There are several lodging options including cabins, a renovated Farmhouse, a lodge and RV park. Activities include swimming, fishing, hiking, field games, relaxing, and much more.
