Blue Ridge Music Makers Guild - Stringbean Café - 200 Block of South Main 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Visit and talk with instrument makers, collectors and keepers of the traditional music of the Galax region. BRMMG will bring and provide access to their lending library, giving visitors the opportunity to experience a musical instrument first-hand. BRMMG is also providing a variety of jam sessions and performances at 100 North Main Street, Chestnut Creek School for the Arts. Appalachian Craft Demonstrations - Future Chestnut Creek School Building (Former Bank) 100 North Main Street 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. – Traditional Appalachian Crafter demonstrations and music by the Blue Ridge Music Makers Guild throughout the day.
Art & Craft Vendors - Main Street & Grayson Street 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m – Come visit and shop from a variety of artisans and craftspeople producing American made traditional and modern products.
P. Buckley Moss Reception - 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. - Private reception with P. Buckley Moss at The Framer's Daughter, 121 N. Main Street, for the unveiling of "The Crooked Road" poster and limited edition print. Call 276-236-4920 for more information.
“A Brush with Fun” - All day - Paint your own masterpiece at The Arts Council’s tent near Grayson & Main Street. $2 donation. We will have picture frame mats and the "Doors of the Twin Counties" posters for sale (all $5 or less).

“Novel-ty Silent Auction” at Chapters Bookshop. Featured items will be 20" x 20" framed mirrors. Minimum bid $20. 00. Bidding opens at 10:00 am Friday and closes at 4:00 pm Saturday. Proceeds benefit The Arts Council and Authors on Grayson.

Blue Ridge Music Center presents Don Rigsby & Midnight Call and Lost and Found 6:00 p.m. - Two special additions to the program will include a performance by the young award winning siblings, Samantha & Zeb Snyder. The highlight of the evening will be a very rare performance by 1979 Miss America, (formerly from Galax) and the very first Miss America from the state of Virginia. Kylene will open the concert with God Bless America

Storytelling - 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. - Instructor, Paul Hodges Introduction to various types of storytelling, with examples of different styles, subject matter, and themes. Everyone has interesting stories to tell. Gain skill and confidence in telling yours
Introduction to Guitar - 3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. & 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. - Instructor, Penny Kilby (2– 1 hour sessions!) Learn the basics of playing the guitar. No experience necessary. Students must be at least nine years old. Guitars will be made available by the Blue Ridge Music Makers Guild, if needed.
Flat Picking - 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. - Instructor, Steve Kilby In the style of Doc Watson, learn how to play one tune with one of the region’s finest musicians. Students are to bring their own guitar and must know the basics of guitar playing to participate.
The following Workshops will be held 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Whittling – Instructor, Brad Smith Learn basic whittling techniques while making your own whimmy diddle- a traditional rhythm toy. Watch Brad as he demonstrates his twig roosters to be taught in a class Fall, 2008. No experience necessary. This workshop is appropriate for adults only. All materials provided.
Knitting – Instructor, Kathleen Hill Using only one stitch, learn how to knit and make your very own scarf. No experience necessary- all ages welcome. Materials fee: $6 includes needles and yarn necessary to complete class project.
Crochet – Instructor, Leslie Shelor Learn how to crochet. Using eight stitches, make your own beautiful bag. No experience necessary. $6 materials fee includes all materials necessary for class project. Minimum 8 years old to participate.
Pastel Painting: Galax Leaf – Instructor, Karen Sewell Learn the basics of using pastels while painting a Galax leaf. No experience necessary- all ages welcome. $6 Materials fee includes all materials for class project

Dinner with Mary Kay Andrews - 6:30 p.m at Warrick Hall, 200 W. Center Street, featuring, author of “Deep Dish”. Catered by Journey’s End Restaurant, Davis-Bourne House, Independence. Raffle drawing will be held at the end of the meal.

Alberti Flea Circus - Rex Theater – East Grayson Street – 1:00, 3:00 & 5:00 p.m. The flea circus is an almost legendary part of fair and festival entertainment, with a history going back well over one hundred years. Alberti has up-dated the flea circus so that crowds as large as 500 can "see" these delightful performers, including Paddy O’Reilly Shaughnessy who waves an Irish Flag, Captain Spaulding who is shot from a cannon, and the daring diving bikini clad Dardenell who does the traditional flea circus high dive. As the children in the audience encourage and cheer the fleas, help with their props, and even provide the musical cues for their "incredible feats," the contagious energy and enthusiasm soon establishes the Alberti Flea Circus as a "must see" entertainment at the fair.
