Welcome to Ward Manor at Buck Mountain

Built in 1915 as the home of Mr. and Mrs. T. W. Ward and their family, Ward Manor is a Victorian farmhouse nestled at the foot of Buck Mountain. The Ward family settled this 280-acre tract in 1777. Today this property is recognized as a National Bicentennial Farm.

Here is a list of rooms available to accomodate your needs...

Master-Plunder Room: The Plunder Room, modernly named the Master, was the bedroom of house elders. Today it showcases the bedroom set of T. W. Ward and wife Lillie Virginia and a hand-made wormy chestnut wardrobe. Also complementing this room are the late 1800’s settee and chair and gas log iron stove. This room boasts it’s own bath with original claw foot tub and private staircase to the kitchen.

$95 - $135 Per Night

Painted Room*: Originally named because of its uniqueness from all other bedrooms in the home, the Panted Room was the formal guest bedroom. Today this room is furnished with a hand-made high back bed dating from the mid 1800s, camel back treasure chest and iron gas log stove. Most complementary to the room is the western view of Alexander’s Pond and Buck Mountain and a southern view of Saddle Creek and the lily pond.

$75 - $115 Per Night

Girls Room*: Room of T. W. Ward’s daughters, the Girls Room is decorated with hats, stoles, and purses of daughter Rose. The art deco bedroom suite purchased upon the marriage of Rose Ward to Martin Alexander Jenkins is complemented by one of the many bed-spreads that Rose quilted herself. This room also has a westerly view of Alexander’s Pond and the evening sunset. It is an excellent choice for the late sleeper.

$75 - $115 Per Night

Boys Room*: With eastern exposure, both Ward and Jenkins boys who had to be up and out early to the fields used this room. Guests staying in the Boys Room are encouraged to open the windows and enjoy the sounds of little Saddle Creek as it tumbles by the house.

$60 - $95 Per Night

* These rooms share a centrally located bath in the upstairs hallway. The bath features a 1941 claw foot tub which is ideal for soaking.

Whole-house rates are available.

Inclusions: Full southern country-style breakfast.

Lunch and dinner a la carte are available for guests with advanced reservation.
