What better way do you know of preserving the arts (all arts) than in enabling the youth of today to cultivate their dreams? The Arts Council of the Twin Counties is aiding in doing just that.
Each year since 1998, the Arts Council has awarded a scholarship to a graduating senior in each of the local high schools in honor of Marietta Carmichael, past president and avid supporter for the arts.
Thirty-one people have received the award totaling more than $14,000.
If you're interested in applying, your guidance counselor and your art, band, music and choral teachers have all received an application and will assist you or you may call the Arts Council's office.
The Arts Council is pleased to sponsor extraordinarily talented young people in their artistic and academic pursuits. For more information on contributing to the Carmichael Scholarship fund or information about the Arts Council you may call (276) 238-1217, email artscouncil@firedogwireless.com or visit the website at www.artsculturalcouncil.org.
