This working farm was recently recognized as a Bicentennial Farm, having been in continuous family ownership for over 200 years. The first settler on the Stone Grant was Jeremiah Stone who was born in 1742.
Our home, called Crest Haven, was built in 1886 by Chrisman Stone, using timber grown on the farm. The sleepers are hemlock. The original farm consisted of more than 1,000 acres beginning at the foot of Iron Mountain and extending south and west.
We invite you to visit with us and experience the warmth and beauty of a rich heritage. Relax on the porch and listen to the sounds of a quaint farming community hidden away in the pristine Elk Creek Valley.
Nearby attractions are Hale Lake, Comer's Rock, Historic 1908 Courthouse, Grayson Highlands State Park, Shatley Springs, Virginia Creeper Trail, New River Trail, Little Wilson Trout Farm , and Mt. Rogers National Recreation Area. Open year round. Children Welcome
